Relevancia: La importancia de este enfoque radica en la retina como vía de acceso para evaluar la neurodegeneración del Sistema Nervioso Central. Al combinar la OCT con IA, se puede identificar alteraciones previas a la aparición de síntomas, lo que facilita el diagnóstico de enfermedades como el Alzheimer y el Parkinson.
Resumen: La retina funciona como extensión del Sistema Nervioso Central que permite observar procesos de neurodegeneración. Mediante la combinación de la Tomografía de Coherencia Óptica (OCT) y la Inteligencia Artificial (IA), es posible detectar biomarcadores para mejorar el diagnóstico y seguimiento de enfermedades como el Alzheimer o el Parkinson.
